The two divisions of Banyan include: Clinic: Headache Care Center (HCC) and Research: Clinvest
 

Headache Care Center is an out-patient health care clinic specializing in evaluation, diagnosis, and management of migraine, migraine variants, other forms of headache and related pain syndromes, and co-morbid conditions related to migraine. Coordination of care with primary care physicians and referring physicians is paramount to the continued success of our patients. For patients without a primary care physician, HCC physicians may coordinate the necessary care and treatment with the headache management plan and within the scope of this practice. For medical care beyond the scope of this practice, the patient is referred to a primary care physician for management of their primary care needs.

Services provided by HCC include:

  1. Out-patient:  diagnosis, evaluation, and on-going management following a traditional out-patient medical office model
  2. Intensive Program:  for patients who have not responded within the traditional out-patient office model, or for patients who have not responded to treatment at other facilities. This program offers a 3-5 day out-patient treatment program during which the patient typically receives medical management and IV therapy protocols to break the current headache cycle and eliminate current medications, psychological services, physical therapy services, and patient education.
  3. Acute Therapy:  an option for existing patients during a severe headache not responding to treatment outlined in their treatment plan. Out-patient IV therapy is available as an alternative to an emergency room or urgent
    care visit.
  4. After hours and weekend care: HCC has an arrangement with a local urgent care facility to provide acute therapy after office hours and on weekends.  They follow HCC treatment protocols and their physicians have been
    in-serviced by HCC physicians.

Clinvest, the research division of Banyan, is comprised of two departments – Research Management and Clinical Research.

Clinvest Research Management maintains a network of over 1,800 providers located throughout the United States. This network includes physicians with board certification in various specialties, such as family practice, internal medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, ear-nose-throat, emergency medicine, and pediatrics. The majority of these physicians practice in primary care settings and frequently specialize in areas such as headache, asthma, diabetes, women’s health, hypertension, pain management, osteoporosis, and geriatric medicine. Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are also included in the database. The Research Management staff identifies potential investigators by review of practice demographics, patient populations, certification and special areas of research interest, availability of investigative staff, and appropriate facilities to conduct the study. In addition to investigator recruitment, Research Management provides rapid, efficient study startup activities and reliable project management. Complete research services include study design and protocol development through data collection and analysis and development of manuscripts.

Clinvest Clinical Research conducts onsite Phase II – IV research at our centrally located state of the art facility. Clinvest targets all types of headache and other disorders, such as hypertension, osteoarthritis, high cholesterol, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, asthma, low back pain, herpes, Alzheimer’s disease, and fibromyalgia. The staff works closely with study sponsors to continually expand the areas of study. Staff includes certified research coordinators and in-house investigators whose specialties span the areas of neurology, internal medicine, family practice, and general clinical and neuropsychology.
